Merula Single Estate Extra Virgin Olive Oil (16.9 fl oz)
Merula Extra Virgin Olive Oil uses only the olives grown on the estate of Marques de Valdueza in Extremadura, Spain and blends the Morisca, Arbequina, Picual, and Hojiblanca varietals. It is characterized by a buttery feel that fills the mouth, as well as distinctive notes of green olives, cut grass, green almond and dried fruit. It is a perfect oil for sauces or for finishing vegetables, fish, meat, and even desserts.
The name Merula comes from the Latin word for yellow-beaked black bird, a bird that populates the Alvarez de Toledo family estate. The olives for Merula are from the second harvest of the year. The added time on the trees gives this oil its characteristic flavor and a higher smoke point.
